Hop does not collect or sell any personal data. The app sends minimal anonymous telemetry to help us improve it — no personal information, no window titles, no screenshots, and no browsing history are ever collected or transmitted.

Downloads

When you download Hop, we record a hashed (SHA-256) version of your IP address, your browser's user agent string, and the macOS version parsed from it. We do not store raw IP addresses. This data is used only to count downloads and understand which macOS versions are in use.

Update checks

Hop uses Sparkle to check for updates. Sparkle sends a standard HTTP request to our server containing your macOS version and Hop version. No personal data is transmitted.

Usage analytics

Hop sends anonymous usage data to our server periodically. This includes:

We never collect the names of your apps or windows, screenshots, browsing history, or anything that could identify you. The device identifier is a random UUID stored locally on your Mac — it is not derived from your hardware or Apple ID.
